Gypsum powder users

Gypsum Recycling International converts gypsum waste into a gypsum powder that the gypsum and plasterboard manufacturers can use as a raw material in the production of new boards. The raw material can replace ordinary natural gypsum or synthetic (FDG/DSG) gypsum raw materials.

We seek plasterboard plants as our partners when establishing the gypsum recycling system, as we hereby make plasterboards a 100% recyclable product.

In all countries where we are operating, we are in close cooperation with the local plasterboard manufacturers.

We favor industry solutions, where the established system is open to all gypsum waste in a given area no matter who originally manufactured the product that created the waste.

Our philosophy and offer to the plasterboard manufacturers is as follows:

  • The gypsum industry is the best and most natural user of the recycled materials
  • To deliver recycled gypsum powder for any other purpose than for making new gypsum products is neither logical nor the best use of the materials and the resources contained herein
  • We do not believe it is in the interest of the plasterboard manufacturers to expand their competitive playing field to include the waste area. Instead we believe in open systems or industry solutions where the established system is open to the waste from all manufacturers, whether or not these manufacturers them self receive the processed powder from the waste
  • The recycling system guarantees gypsum manufacturers the recycled gypsum powder at a price per tons which is lower than the cost of virgin raw materials
  • The supply of the gypsum powder occurs under long term contracts to assure the plasterboard manufacturers of their raw material supply
  • The quality of the supplied powder is guaranteed
  • No investment required at the gypsum manufacturing plants to utilise the recycled gypsum powder
  • Up to 25% of raw materials in one batch can be recycled powder

NATURAL GYPSUM

NaCaSO4 2H2O is one of
the most common natural
minerals and is actually a
form of rock. It is
available in mines in
several countries. The
major producers of rock
gypsum are countries like
Thailand, Spain, Mexico
and the US.

SYNTHETIC GYPSUM

Synthetic gypsum,
industrial gypsum, FGD
(Flu Gas Desulphurised
Gypsum) and DSG
(Desulphurised Gypsum)
are all names for gypsum
which are created by man
and not naturally found in
mines. Synthetic gypsum
is most typically created
when using socalled
scrubbers, of lime (Ca),
in coal fired power plants
to clean the smoke from
sulfat (SO). The lime and
sulfat combine and make
synthetic gypsum (CaSO4
2 H2O) which is a high
quality and very pure
gypsum material.
Chemically this gypsum is
identical to natural
gypsum.
