Recycle gypsum

Everywhere in the world the pressure to decrease disposal of waste at landfills and increase activities to recycle gypsum is becoming stronger and stronger. Gypsum Recycling International has developed a system to help the gypsum Industry recycle gypsum and benefit from an improved environmental image as well as the opportunity to use the recycled gypsum powder, which Gypsum Recycling International sells at a price well below that of virgin gypsum raw materials. Take a look at our unique gypsum recycling system

Why recycle gypsum?

The main incentive to recycle gypsum is probably the climate changes which will motivate governments all over the world to avoid landfilling of waste due to the creation of the greenhouse gas, methane, which is much more damaging to the climate than CO2. In addition the risk of creation of hydrogen sulphite gas when gypsum waste is landfilled is causing governments all over the world to demand that special precautions are being made when landfilling gypsum waste, which is driving up the cost of disposal of gypsum waste at the landfill. However, the industry is also increasingly aware of the benefits of creating an environmentally friendly image. The economical aspect is obviously also an important incentive.

How to recycle gypsum

The system to recycle gypsum, developed by Gypsum Recycling International, consists of four separate and yet interconnected parts:

  • Containers
  • Logistic system
  • Recycling unit
  • Recycled products
Special containers from Gypsum Recycling International have been developed for the collection of gypsum waste. The containers are very userfriendly and also prevent the waste from becoming wet.. The containers are unloaded regularly, and the waste is transported to a warehouse located close to the plant using the recycled gypsum, whereby transportation costs are kept to a minimum. A mobile recycling unit, driven by its own diesel generator and able to process waste that is not clinically clean or pure, will then recycle the gypsum waste into recycled gypsum powder that can be used for production of new virgin gypsum boards.
