Reuse drywall
Gypsum Recycling International has developed a system to reuse drywall waste so that disposal of waste at landfills becomes unnecessary. Presently more than 15 million tons of drywall waste is landfilled in Europe, USA and Asia every year, and landfills are filling up everywhere. This is neither environmentally nor politically acceptable, and is becoming more and more problematic due to the perceived risk of hydrogene sulfide gas creation in the landfill and the creation of the greenhouse gases..Drywall waste is 100% reusable so there really is no excuse not to reuse drywall.
With Gypsum Recycling International’s unique, patented technology and system, recycling of all types of gypsum waste has now become a financially viable solution. The drywall industry has the chance to become involved in recycling activities without having to invest in expensive equipment, and as an added bonus they will reuse the recycled materials for production of new drywall materials.
Reuse of drywall will among other things:
- Help preserve natural resources and help prevent shortages of raw materials
- Help the drywall manufacturers obtain raw materials of high quality at the lowest cost
- Improve the environmental image of the gypsum and drywall industry
100% reuse of drywall
Gypsum Recycling International's recycling system assures that gypsum and drywall waste becomes 100% recyclable. The reprocessed gypsum powder which makes up approximately 90% of the waste is sent back to the drywall manufacturers, so that they can make new drywall with it.
The paper facing which makes up 10% of the drywall waste, can be reused in various ways, as the technology of Gypsum Recycling International assures that very little gypsum is left on the paper residual.
The paper residual is among other things used for composting, heat generation, building materials etc. This means that drywall waste is reused and recycled 100%.
